Accents and Artech was originally known as Accents and Art. It was started by Lee Bunker in 1974 in Oakland, California. Lee was very well known in the picture framing industry. Lee was not only active in her industry, she was also innovative. The company was one of two businesses in the San Francisco area that owned a Magnapex 4' x 8' dry mounting machine. Accents and Art was able to handle large format mounts for picture framing industry. Lee also started adding small format lamination of documents to the company's offerings. In the early 90's Lee sold the business to Gary Upchurch who eventually moved the company to the current San Leandro location.
Under the leadership of Gary Upchurch, Accents and Art expanded it's services to include large format lamination, mounting and picture framing. Many of it's customers were coming to Accents and Art for their wide/small format laminations and mounts because the company now had high speed production equipment to quickly handle their jobs. Picture framing and large mounts continued to be increasingly popular. In 1998, the company acquired Seal Form laminating in San Francisco to become a stronger company providing more services for the Bay Area. This increased the company's visibility to become a strong source for document laminating. In 1999, Accents and Art was sold to Winston Chu.
Accents and Art continued until 2002 when it merged with it purchased it's competitor Artech Laminating of Oakland. The name was changed to Accents and Artech....which was reflective of the two well established document laminators in the Bay Area of Northern California. Under the new leadership, the company made a move to provide a "One Stop Shop" for the Digital and Wide Format Industry.The company now can handle:
- Volume Laminating - 5 volume laminators and high speed cutters.
- Large Format Laminating - 4 large format laminators
- Large Format Printing - 4 large format printers (prints up to 8' wide) and 1 flat bed printer (5' x 8').
- Mounting - Hot and Cold Mounts - Dry Mounting or Pressure Sensitive Mounting.
- Digital small format printing and slitting - Xerox Digital Press with Graphic Wizard slitter.
- Picture Framing - Canvas and traditional picture framing.
- CNC cutting - 2 CNC cutters.
- Specialized displays - Metal, Wood and Plexiglass Prints.
